The Netherlands/Belgium

Dutch jazz pianist Ron van Rossum has been living and working in Belgium for a few decades.

His warm and strong tone, impeccable sense of articulation and deep swing phrasing make him a high in-demand sideman.

He is widely recognized as one of the most convincing European post-bop and hardbop pianists, even though his thorough knowledge of the whole jazz history through its different periods and styles contributes to his sweeping musical vocabulary.

His own projects include his trio featuring Hein Van de Geyn on bass and Hans Van Oosterhout on drums, and his band Emanon Five.

He has been part of several long-lived projects such as Octurn, Phil Abraham Quartet, Bart Defoort Quartet, and more recently Bruno Castellucci-Joe Higham Quintet.

He appeared in a number of festivals (Middelheim, North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazz Festival of Paris, of Liège,…)

Ron VAN ROSSUM teaches jazz piano at the conservatories of Arnhem (The Netherlands) and Brussels, and at the Lemmens Instituut in Leuven.
