German vocalist and entertainer Marc Secara is an outstanding representative of the new German jazz and pop scene.

At the early age of 20, he was a soloist with the BuJazzO, Germany’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra.

In 2001 Marc receives worldwide media coverage, being the first western artist in 20 years to be allowed to go on tour in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In the country’s most important music festival “Fadjr”, he won the first prize for “Best Artist of the Festival”.

On behalf of the German government, he was chosen as the only German artist to go on a European tour in 2004. On this special concert tour, titled “New Stars for Europe”, Secara and his Berlin Jazz Orchestra were the “musical welcome gift” to 10 new members of the European Union.

After several album productions, he made his his major label debut in 2006 with the “Strangers in the Night” production (Universal Records).

In 2008, he composed and sang the title song for the big German movie release “Killing Is My Business, Honey.

His “Berlin Jazz Orchestra” under the direction of legendary U.S. trombonist Jiggs Whigham has become one of the most in-demand orchestras in Germany and Europe. They have performed hundreds of concerts in the most important German concert halls.

In 2011, Marc Secara released “Now and forever”, an elaborate production with a German All Star Big Band, symphony orchestra and choir. That same year, a Live DVD of a live performance at the Frankfurt Opera was released on Universal Records.

In the years 2014 – 2018 Marc Secara was again on the road worldwide. For example he worked with the two-time Grammy winners New York Voices and several German stars. Marc also gave performances in numerous radio and TV productions.
For the 2016 Olympics, Secara was the featured guest star with the NDR Big Band star for two tracks on the official soundtrack (produced by the main German TV station ARD).

Equally interested in teaching his art, Marc Secara is the professor of jazz and pop singing at SRH Berlin University since 2013. He also recently became a diplomed Estill Master Trainer, and regularly teaches workshops for vocal ensembles.

“How lucky we can be, that we’re still able to hear voices like this! Crooners, that swing, that can enrich a song with light and air. Singers that can fly with their voice … Marc Secara is one of them.” RBB Culture Radio
